Update I: According to a GameInformer article, the title “Batman: Arkham Knight” doesn’t refer to Batman himself. The article states, “The Arkham Knight is actually a brand new character created by Rocksteady and DC.” If you subscribe to GameInformer you can check out a picture of the new character in question, but no other details are being shared at this time. This is interesting because it seems as if Rocksteady and DC partnered to create an entirely new hero. Could this mystery figure become part of the DC comics canon? We’ll see soon enough.

Original Story…

Rocksteady, the incredible development team behind Batman: Arkham Asylum and Batman: Arkham City, has officially announced Batman: Arkham Knight, the conclusion to one of the best superhero video game series ever. We all knew it was coming. After the monumental success of the Batman Arkham series, which has so far spanned 3 games, it makes sense to produce a new game for the latest consoles. But this isn’t just a quick cash in.

Rocksteady, who has been quiet since the release of Batman: Arkham City in 2011, has undoubtedly been hard at work on this final piece of the popular and critically acclaimed Arkham series. Gamers can expect some great new gameplay additions. The game will open a whole new section of Gotham city to gamers. This new playable area will be much larger than the one featured in Arkham city because the developer had to make room for…a drivable Batmobile, a first for the series. Players can also expect the return of several villainous standouts such as Harley Quinn, Penguin, Two-Face, and Scarecrow.

Enough talk, you say? Well, how about a trailer? Check out the 4 minute debut trailer, which is absolutely stunning.

Judging by the trailer, it looks as if gamers can expect another amazing trip to Gotham later this year. The game is expected to launch in October on PS4, Xbox One, and PC (sorry, it seems that the Wii U will miss out on the initial release). You can check out the Batman: Arkham Knight website for more information and updates about the game.
